Went to see Titantic 3D yesterday, and the movie is still good since it was first released 15 years ago. The 3D effect was alright, even for a non-professional viewer like me I could still notice additional dimensions in the film. I remember I first watched it back then when I was 5, I did not get it at all. The plot was just a bit complex for a 5 year-old to comprehend, and I could hardly understand why all the adults who saw it together with me all went teary towards the end. Now 15 years later, I have grown since then and it did make me want to cry a little, but manage to hold it (because I don't want to give a false impression that I have just went through a break-up and had to cry it all out in the cinema, or was I just thinking too much? XD) .
I think the movie was beautifully shot, the setting was all lavish and realistic. Every picture or frame of the movie was very believable and true. It is not difficult have imagined yourself to be 'inside the film'. As one of the passenger who boarded Titanic, witnessed the love between Jack and Rose, and went through the disastrous wreck, just simply have experienced Titanic through the movie.
The romantic plot in the movie was of course heart warming and nice, however I would say that the best part wouldn't be all the happy times they have had before the wreck, I would say they are only build-ups to the best, the ending of the movie.
I love the end when old Rose threw the necklace back into the ocean and in bed which the movie showed a blurred visual of her reuniting with Jack. Personally, I would interpret it as the old Rose died at the end. She had kept the promise she made with Jack, she lived the life inspired by her short encounter with Jack. Throughout the whole time she had her necklace with her, she had been holding on to Jack all along. Till the end, she threw the necklace back to the ocean, it suggested a closure. She had lived the life inspired by Jack, and in afterlife she reunited with him. Jack had been a big part of her life, in which she kept it deep down her heart, the idea of throwing it away is to seal this memory just between the two of them, left untarnished by the others. If it was a dream, she wouldn't have thrown the necklace away, since she was still living, she would still hold on to the necklace (Jack).
Alternative endings which Jack and Rose lives happily ever after just doesn't work. Since the encounter of the two of them is already a bit 'fairy-tale like', the sad ending just gives it much more realistic touch and meanings to it.
-end of rant, thank you
